Pigeon Forge, TN- Southern Rock Artist Michelle Leigh was named the 2018 Entertainer of the Year-Southern Rock at The Josie Music Awards, the largest independent music award organization, part of The Josie Network, LLC of Brands. The 4th Annual award ceremony event was held September 8, 2018 at the Celebrity Theater inside the Dollywood Theme Park. Ms. Leigh is also a past JMA winner of 2015, 2016 Southern Rock Artist of the Year, 2016 Southern Rock Song of the Year, 2017 Video of the Year for Devil Music, as well as 2018 Jacksonville’s People’s Choice Awards Best in Country/Southern Rock Award
In addition to the Entertainer of the Year award, Ms. Leigh garnered the 2018 Video of the Year for her “pull no punches” video Blood Water. Though Blood Water is set in 1940’s rural Appalachia, it addresses the societal plight of sexual abuse and the resulting repercussions of cover-up, shame and revenge.
Michelle Leigh is carving a deep path and making indelible marks in the Southern Rock world. She has centralized her operations in Jacksonville, Florida- the Southern Rock capital of the World, but maintains her North Carolina home base. Michelle has performed with Rossington Collins founding members Barry Lee Harwood and Derek Hess, as well as Harley Lamoureaux of Charlie Daniels Band, Greg T. Walker of Blackfoot and Andy Orth of Molly Hatchet. She is currently writing for her 3rd album with Southern Rock icon Barry Lee Harwood and Grammy nominated producer Charlie Kelley. Michelle Leigh has been dubbed the new “Leading Lady” of Southern Rock by several Jacksonville music magazines and TV shows, and she is honored to carry on the tradition of Southern Rock.
